Must Try

A quiet estate food centre above a wet market off Marymount Road, loved for Hakka kueh, char kway teow with otah and a muffin stall with a cult following.
Breakfast Hakka delicacies, old-school fried kway teow and freshly baked muffins sold from a hawker stall since 2002.
Tucked into the Shunfu estate off Marymount Road, Shunfu Mart is the kind of food centre that residents keep to themselves. Some of its hawkers arrived from the old Lakeview Market and Food Centre, demolished in the late 1990s. Mei Zhen Hakka Delicacies is one of them: founded by a mother and now run by three sisters, it spent 15 years at Lakeview before settling here, where it still shapes taro-skin soon kueh and abacus yam balls each morning. In 2002, an ex-Mandarin Oriental pastry chef started Chocolat N' Spice here, turning muffins into a hawker queue. Lai Heng's fried kway teow, served with otah, has kept its own line going for years. In 2022 the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council closed the mart for three months of renovation, bringing new floors, ceilings, lights, larger fans and refreshed toilets. The stalls returned to a brighter, airier hall that still runs on early-morning regulars.
